Midnight Apero is a band in the Poitou-Charentes bridging generations, cultures, and tastes with their unique treatments of popular songs for your event or venue. It was conceived in the Cafe Flore in Chalais where Paul and Justin had a pow-wow to discuss their musical aspirations over coffee. Tim answered the not-so-silently whispered prayers for a bass player after MA starting gigging. They enjoy sharing spontaneous fits of laughter and the joy that come with good music and good friends. 2020 sparked new life into the band with the addition of Amy. She brings fun laughter and an infectious vocal sound that will capture your heart.
Justin Burley (Drums/Backing Vocal/Sound/ DJ)
Justin moved to France 10 years ago and is originally from Hastings, East Sussex, now based near Chalais with his partner and 4 big dogs. Though he also dabbles in bass guitar, he has been playing drums for many years in different bands and prefers drumming. With a passion for music, Justin is a popular wedding DJ with his business Crystal Beats Disco and thus provides all the band’s equipment and helps us sound great. He’s a computer technician as well. Check out his website.
Paul Griseri (Keys/Vocals)
Paul comes from London, and now lives in Charente Maritime. Until recently he was in the successful covers band The Monday Night Project. When in the UK he played in jazz and blues outfits as well as playing solo piano in bars and restaurants, at one point being resident pianist at the Canterbury Festival Club. He has played with, and been musical director for, several amateur dramatic events, and was also composer in residence for summer schools for children in London. He is a retired university teacher.
Tim Beaton (Bass)
Tim comes from London (England!) and learned the violin at a slightly too late age to ever have become a great player! He picked up bass and guitar along the way, with a teeny bit of keyboards, too.
He’s now living in France, with 4 cats. (“That’s right, I love cats. And dogs, too!) He’s a Virgo and loves a nice glass of red wine, sunsets, and good food.
Amy Francis comes from Swansea in south Wales, and she brings a bit of celtic-softness to the band.
She has been living in France for 12 years, when she’s not singing she is a chef and runs a busy catering company, Chez Amis
Amy comes from a big singing family and has always loved a wide variety of music. She is excited to be able to be in a band for the very first time in her life. Amy has such a wonderful voice you can’t do anything but want to hear more.
Amy makes the hairs on your arm stand up when she sings. Amy is very talented and has written her own songs also.
But…………….. Secretly wants to be a drummer really… one day maybe… when she grows up (!)
